  • Two days in the countryside was a nice rest but the ocean called. I moved on down the east coast to the Tauranga Area of the Bay of Plenty. This area has grapes, kiwi fruit and many small towns. Tauranga was the biggest slice of modern civilization that i had seen since Auckland. On the coast is endless white sand beaches. I found a nice B&B in a beachfront home on Omano Beach which is on the southwest tip of the Tauranga harbour.

On the very tip of this Bay is Mount Maunganui, but more about that tomorrow

    Pictured to your right: clockwise:

    • the inset is the B&B at Coroglen. I had the entire downstairs with patio, and bbq and big screen TV and everything.
    • at Omanu Beach i walk out the door and in 2 minutes this is what I find - another beach - Omanu Beach has big waves and there are surfers too, and runners
    • life is a beach, right?
