On
the 2nd day while staying with Judy and Dave, in their beachfront home
in Omanu Beach, they took me for a day trip up the coast to KatiKati,
Ethanrae and other smaller towns and communities. We had a picnic on the
shores of a river in KatiKati.
Staying with Judy and Dave includes an hour walk in the morning along
the beach. This is very strenuous. The daytrip to Katikati also included
a several hour tramp all around town.
NewZealander's love to tramp and there are tramps everywhere is seems.
Pictured to your right: clockwise:
- the is the river where we have out picnin
- a bronze sculpture on the shores of the river in memory of Humphry,
the sea elephant, who spent 3 months there once harassing cows because
he was lonely
- Judy is preparing our picnic
- houses often have a little stand out front to sell their lemons,
avocados, caulies, ..indeed any fruit or vegetable. These stands are
often quite charming and include an 'honesty box' where you put your
money. This one was one of many in KatiKati
